Carpet Stain Reappear

The other common cause of reappearing stains is something referred to as wicking.

Spills that absorb deep into the backing or pad can get reabsorbed into the carpet fibers and make its way back up to the top of the fiber. Soiling when you use a carpet cleaner on a stain and the carpet cleaner is not properly blotted or completely rinsed off from the spot it creates a problem called soiling. It is time you call cleaning professionals to do their job. A reappearing stain called wicking may get removed from the surface with traditional cleaning methods but not from the carpeting or upholstery padding underneath.

What is the difference between soiling and wicking. Wicking occurs when the substance that was spilled on the carpet has soaked through into the backing of the carpet and sometimes even the underpad. Wicking happens when liquid penetrates the rug or carpet to reach the backing and or padding. Even after the carpet dries the residue will remain.

Recurrent stains are usually not permanent however and can be removed with a gentle wet solution. The leftover residue becomes sticky over time. When many people clean carpets they shampoo and move on. This is caused by the residue from the cleaning solution used to remove the vomit stain being left on the carpet which causes dirt to stick to the area.
